Hi! Welcome to Art in Room 207!
My name is Patricia Massari and I am so glad you stopped by to learn a little bit about art at C.D. Fulkes Middle School. This year is destined to be amzing! Each studnet will be assigned a house and we will allwork together as one big family to make this the BEST year yet at the BEST middleschool inRound Rock.
I am going to share a l little bit about myself, because art is such a personal experience, and I am going to expect a little "comfort" zone art creation based on self-reflection. This is my 15th year at C.D. Fulkes, GO LIZARDS! Prior to that I taught yearbook and Art for 4 1/2 years at Grisham MS, Success and Round Rock Opportunity Center. Teaching art is my dream job! I love watching kids grow as artists and into reflective, compassionate, innovative young artists! Iam married to my college sweetheart Rich and we have one amazing daughter, Alyssa, who is currently an 9th grader at Cedar Ridge. We share our home with two dogs, one cat and two birds. I attended college at Montana State University-Northern in Havre, MT. We moved here due to a sense of adventure, and really do love Texas, even though Montana will always be my home.
During the 2018-2019 school year I will be teaching MS Art 1, MS Art 2 and HS Art I in Room 207.
- MS Art 1 is intended to be a beginner's class for students in grades 6-8. Sixth graders are not scheduled in classes with our seventh and eighth graders. Thus, all our 6th grade beginners are being taught by Mrs. Esparza, my co-teacher. I will be teaching all 7th or 8th grade beginners.
- MS Art 2 is an intermediate class, so if your student previously had art in middle school, please help ensure we have made the right placement in our first six weeks of the school year.
- HS Art I is for students who have already had MS Art 1 or 2. It is highly recommended that they take Art consecutively. HS Art I or HS Art I Media, Art & Communication (for less traditional technology based art) and both earn our students HS credit,. Even though the content is similar, it is taught at a more rigorous pace. So, be ready for an exciting year!
I sponsor our Art Club for 7th and 8th graders on Mondays. Our sixth graders meet with Mrs. Esparza in Room 621. This year we will meet on Monday's, yet we will be adding some additional dates to our calendar in order to be involved in community events. We will work to complete an art installation. as a major project along with many community service oriented gatherings. A calendar will be posted and shared with students at our first meeting of the year on Monday, September 10th.
